Hattiesburg, Forrest County open cooling stations

The City of Hattiesburg and Forrest County Emergency Management District are opening two cooling stations. The stations are at The C.E. Roy Community Center, located at 300 East 5th Street, and The Jackie Dole Sherrill Community Center, located at 220 West Front Street.

The cooling stations will be open from noon until 5 p.m. Tuesday. They will reopen Wednesday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

"These stations will be stocked with water and will serve as an opportunity for citizens to get out of the extreme heat should they need it," the city noted in a statement.
