Hattiesburg Police Department Swears in Four More Officers


HATTIESBURG, Miss. - At 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, Mayor Toby Barker and Chief Anthony Parker swore in four additional police officers for Hattiesburg Police Department at City Hall.

Barker issued the oath to the following:

  • Darius Brown, 27, coming to HPD from Mendenhall Police Department. Brown is also a member of the Mississippi National Guard and serves as a Specialist E-4.

  • Antonia Conley, 27, coming to HPD from University Police at Southern Miss. He has prior experience with Columbia Police Department and also serves as an E-5 with the Mississippi National Guard.

  • Shawnasty “O’Brien” Extine, 24, coming to HPD with his law enforcement certification earned from Southern Regional Public Safety Institute (SRPSI).

  • Devion White, 27, coming to HPD from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department. White served in the Army for four years and is currently a member of the inactive reserves for the Army with a rank of E4.

These transfers bring the police department numbers to 99, and they will report to the training academy following the ceremony to begin their three-week refresher training course.
