Laurel man arrested, child abuse

JONES COUNTY, Miss. - One Laurel man has been arrested for child abuse.

Jones County Deputies said they were notified by Child Protective Services on August 15 that Richard Eddy, 42, choked his 7-year-old step-son multiple times, and slapped him on the floor afterwards.

The child had extreme bruising on his arms, legs, and elbows.

Eddy was taken into custody Thursday, and is charged with felonious child abuse.
