South Jones dance team receives its state championship rings

ELLISVILLE, Miss. - South Jones High School had a special assembly Wednesday to honor its dance team for winning the MHSAA State Championship in the small varsity kick competition this past December.

The Bravettes dance team were awarded their state championship rings during the assembly, and it was a moment they will remember for the rest of their lives.

Sponsor, Kelly Tucker said, “We’re so excited. The girls worked so hard. This is our 6th year to have a team at South Jones. We’ve competed for five and this is our first state championship. They’ve placed every year that they’ve gone to state. And we’re very proud to bring this state championship back home to South Jones.”

“It feels great to go out on top. I’m so glad to have won this state championship with these group of girls. My favorite memory is spending time at multiple practices with these girls, because if it wasn’t for them, I don’t know how I would’ve gotten through high school,” said senior, Haley Smith.

Tucker said the new season has already started and the team is practicing hard for another title run.
