HPSD hires new leaders, assistant superintendent, HHS principal


HATTIESBURG, MS. - The Hattiesburg Public School District (HPSD) will have new faces for the next school year. The district hired a new Hattiesburg High School Principal along with adding an Assistant Superintendent position.

Michael Battle, a former Gulfport Central Middle School principal will be HPSD's new Assistant Superintendent.

“Well our goal is to make sure our students are able to compete in the global market place" said Battle. He added, "And by doing so we want to make sure that students score well in the ACT and do well in high school and all the avenues in their life.”

Eric Boney was the former Assistant Principal at Petal High School and will now lead the Tigers as Hattiesburg High's new Principal.

"To live up to the fullest potential that we can with the students. Get students college and career ready, and do the best that we can do" said Boney.

Both will start their new positions July 1.
