The Hub City Special Olympics basketball team hooped it up during the Southern Miss vs. UTSA game
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Hub City Special Olympics basketball team was at the Southern Miss vs. UTSA basketball game Thursday supporting the Lady Eagles.
But, that's not the only reason they were there.
The team got a chance to play some basketball during halftime.
Regional director, Amber Wadsworth said, "Tonight was kind of our last showcase before our big competition. So, it's a great opportunity for our athletes to show what they can do. And, they really showed out tonight."
Athlete, Lloyd Lindsey said, "I just tried to shoot goals. I ran around had fun with my friends."
"I'm really excited to be here and to play basketball. I've been playing basketball when I was younger. I just got back into it, and I'm really enjoying it. It's just great to have my friends there with me and make new friends, and just have a great time here," said athlete, Sarah Ellis.
The Hub City Special Olympics basketball team will begin to play their official games starting Feb. 18 at USM’s Payne Center.
