Southern Miss's George Payne and Ito Smith's unique bond

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The one-two punch of Southern Miss running backs, Ito Smith and George Payne has been lethal to opposing defenses.

The relationship between these two backs is probably the reason why they have so much success on the field.

Running back, George Payne said, "Me and Ito, we always been cool. We grew up in the same town. We didn't really know each other in high school, but we knew of each other. When we met down here it was like an automatic click, an automatic friendship. We always been brothers. We always will be I'm sure. I feel like in the future, I can look at him and he can come to me if he ever needs anything and I can come to him."

Southern Miss will take on UTSA Saturday and both Payne and Smith will have their opportunity to continue their dominance.
