Southern Miss's home opener, "Law Appreciation Day"


HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss will host their home opener Saturday against Savannah State and will also celebrate “Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.”

Senior Associate Athletic Director, Brent Jones said, "Our fans have donated over 2,000 tickets right now to that. And what we have done, for all law enforcement officials in the entire state of Mississippi, they can request up to four tickets for them and their family to come free of charge that our fans have donated. We'll have a pre-game presentation ceremony on the field, followed by a halftime...really, really special day. We'll have honorary captains that's going to be very, very special and near-and-dear to the Pine Belt region. And then we have Chief Stoney Parker, Chief of Police for Hattiesburg."

The halftime honorary captains will be the family members of fallen officers, Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate.

They will also be joined by a "M Club” Hall of Famer and former Golden Eagle football player.
