USM, helpful tips for online program students

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - USM staff members are providing helpful tips to their online program students.

Tom Hutchinson, interim director of online learning said, "One of the most important tips is to have kind of a backup plan for technology for internet access, especially with weather in the south. This will ensure you get your assignments turned in on-time and you don't miss any exams."

"I think it takes a little more diligence on the student and instructors part to make sure their interaction and relationship-building. That's what we want. That's good sound online instruction," said Hutchinson.

Some other helpful tips are to minimize distractions, familiarize yourself with the learning management system, and to always check your university email.
