Law Appreciation Day, Southern Miss football

|David Cohen, Director of Communications

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss athletics department is proud to announce that the Golden Eagles' football home opener on Sept. 10 will also be Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.

The event itself will spotlight law enforcement officers throughout the State of Mississippi. There will be honorary captains present for the pregame coin flip, as well as a halftime presentation recognizing those who serve our community as law enforcement officers.

Part of this campaign also features the opportunity for Golden Eagle fans to show their appreciation for such men and women by purchasing tickets that will be donated to these officers and their families. Fans may purchase tickets for $10 each and Southern Miss Athletics will match every ticket purchased for this campaign. Donated tickets will be distributed by Southern Miss Athletics directly to local law enforcement offices.

To begin this campaign to show our appreciation for our law enforcement officers, Coach Jay Hopson has stepped up and purchased the first 500 tickets.

"We are blessed to be able to do something like this," Hopson said. "They go above and beyond the call of duty over and over again. Southern Miss and its football program really appreciate the hard work they do to keep us safe. We thank them for their dedication and sacrifice."

Those wishing to follow Coach Hopson’s lead and purchase tickets to be donated for this event may call 1-800-844-TICK, visit the Pat Ferlise Ticket Office (Monday – Friday; 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.) or click here.

Officers interested in obtaining tickets for this game are asked to coordinate with their station. Any police stations and law enforcement offices that are in need of tickets for this game are asked to coordinate directly with Kyle George, Associate Athletics Director of Marketing Communications. He can be reached by phone at (601) 266-6866 or via email at Kyle.George@usm.edu.
