HATTIESBURG, Miss. - William Carey has made its summer plans come to life and now has some new changes to its campus.

Mia Overton, media relations and marketing coordinator said, "We've got four new building projects underway. One of them is a biology lab. We're also building a new multi-purpose building, which will be used for our new volleyball program that starts this fall. We're building a track and we're also building an addition to our gym."

The new addition to the gym will benefit all athletes.

Men’s basketball head coach, Steve Knight said, "I think the biggest part of it is going to be an expanded weight room and training room for our athletes. We want to take care of them and we'll have the opportunity to lift weights right here next to the gym and I think that's important."

It's not just the athletes that will benefit.

"It will give us an opportunity to have more offices down here for other sports coaches, plus our own coaches. We can spread out a little bit and give some folks some single offices that are doubled-up right now," said Knight.

Overton said the volleyball gym will open in late fall and the gym addition, track, and the Biology Building will be ready in the spring.

Overton said all of the new projects cost about $9.3 million.
