Jones county child drowns in family pool

JONES COUNTY, Miss. - The following is a press release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department.
At approximately 1:30pm on July 21, 2016, Jones County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Tucker’s Crossing Road with a report of a drowning.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a 3 year old child unconscious in the home. Deputies were told the child had fallen in the swimming pool at the residence. Lifesaving techniques were administered to the child immediately. Responding to the scene along with the Jones County Sheriff’s Department were Powers and Glade Volunteer Fire and Rescue, EmServ, Mississippi Highway Patrol and Investigators from the Jones County DA’s office.
The child was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead just before 3:00pm.
The thoughts and prayers of the Jones County Sheriff’s Department are with the family, friends and neighbors. We will not release the name of the victim, as family is still being notified.
