FORREST COUNTY, Miss. - The city of Hattiesburg and Forrest county officials are urging residents to sign up for 'Reverse 911' before its too late.
Reverse 911 is an extension with the 911 dispatch. Residents can input imperative health information in an online profile about themselves, family members, and even pets.
In an event of an emergency 911 dispatch can see your health information profile which can benefit first responders.
Forrest County Emergency Management, Glen Moore said the county needs 20% of its population or else the free service will be halted.
"This program costs approximately $20,000 a year and we only got 1% of the county that is participating" said Moore.
Moore said from a budget standpoint its hard to continue the program where the participation number is low.
"It is a free program, we do not want it to go away, we are trying to do everything we can on how it can help and how it can help their families" said Moore.
To sign up for the program you can go to smart911.com.
