HPD searching for shooting suspect

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Hattiesburg Police Department (HPD) is searching for a shooting suspect after a victim was sent to the hospital.

According to authorities a male victim was shot on the 1700 block of West 7th at around 3:30 am on Saturday.

Lieutenant Jon Traxler said, "The victim heard a gun shot, looked down and was shot on the leg."

Lt. Traxler said residents heard the gun shot too, "They saw him laying on the ground, went out, and transported him to the hospital." The victim is in stable condition.
