MAGEE, Miss. - A Magee woman participated in the Miss Wheelchair Mississippi pageant and won.
The celebration is still going on for her, but now she is gearing up for Miss Wheelchair America.
Miss Wheelchair Mississippi, LisaAnn Redd said, "Every little girl wants to be a queen, a princess you know? But then, this is also requiring me to step out of my comfort zone and do speaking engagements. I'm actually excited because I get to be an advocate for people with disabilities and the goal really is to focus on the accomplishments of women with disabilities."
Miss Wheelchair America will be held in Michigan in August.
Redd's goal is to spread more awareness about women and disabilities as well as building more accessible school playgrounds for kids with disabilities.
