Hattiesburg, Miss. - Some William Carey staff and faculty members were inside the School of Business building Monday, learning how to handle possible emergency situations.

William Carey faculty member, Dr. Walter Cooper said, "We lye right in that tornado alley so we've got a lot of weather concerns. And then nationally, we've had all these active shooter incidents. So we're gearing up to be able to be ready to hopefully prevent, and if not prevent, respond and thereby reduce the catastrophic consequences of these incidents."

The university brought in members from the National Center for Bio-Medical Research and Training Academy of Counter-Terrorist (NCBRT) to help guide and teach faculty and staff members some valuable training.

NCBRT member, Larry Cunningham said, "We identify case studies, and then we have a significant amount of facilitation to include two table tops, whereby everyone solves problems collecting in their various vantage points and their various responsibilities."

There will be more training Tuesday and there will also be another training session in the summer for William Carey faculty members and staff.
