Hattiesburg hit-and-run suspects in custody

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Hattiesburg Police department has two people in custody after a Tuesday night hit-and-run that sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries.

Mitchell Chapman, 37, and Jessica Williams, 24, were arrested Thursday.

Both suspects are charged with leaving the scene of an accident, causing death, disfigurement or mutilation on U.S. Highway 49 near 31st Ave.

Officials have been investigating the hit-and-run since Tuesday night and located the vehicle on Wednesday near the site.

Chapman and Williams are waiting for their initial appearance.
