Miss St. 5-Star recruit caught on camera punching a woman

Macon, Miss. - A Mississippi State five-star recruit is apologizing for an incident that was caught on camera last week.

Mississippi State signee, Jeffery Simmons and an unidentified woman are seen hitting another woman in Macon, Mississippi.

It's believed the woman in the video made negative remarks about Simmons's deceased family members.

Simmons later apologized on his Facebook page saying, “I take full responsibility for my actions that occurred on Thursday evening.”

Simmons said "all I could think was this is my family and I am supposed to defend my family."

The Macon Police Department said it's aware of the incident, but is not saying yet if criminal action will be taken.
