Hattiesburg, Miss. - The Southern Miss football team returns to the practice field on Tuesday, March 22 as the Golden Eagles begin spring practice. Practice will begin at 3:00 p.m. and last until approximately 6:00 p.m. at the Joe P. Park Practice Field on the campus of Southern Miss.
“We are looking forward to tomorrow,” head coach Jay Hopson said. “(First day of practice) is always a fun day. Spring is a great time. You get to teach. We are all teachers and educators at the end of the day. That is something that I think all coaches love. In the spring, things are slowed down a little bit which is a good thing.
“We want to see the guys play hard,” Hopson added. “It is a great time for competition and for guys to show what they can do and win jobs. That is what spring is all about, winning jobs and creating competition.”
Spring practice will take place each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon with scrimmages slated for Saturday mornings beginning April 2. The Annual Black and Gold Scrimmage is scheduled for Saturday, April 23 as part of Eagle Fest.
