Two charged in Jones county rape

JONES COUNTY, Miss. - The following is a press release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department.

In the early morning hours of Saturday, June 25, Jones County Sheriff’s Department Deputies and Investigators responded to a report of a rape of a juvenile.

The victim and her guardian reported on Friday, June 24, 2016 Kimberly Nicole Zuniga-Hancock, 32 of Laurel, took the victim, who is a relative, to a residence on Indian Springs Road to meet with Alberto Contreras, 40 of Laurel.

Through investigative interrogation and victim reports, it was determined Hancock and Contreras were texting earlier on June 24, 2016, while Hancock and the victim were together.

Hancock was telling Contreras she had a “friend” who would perform sexual acts for money. Hancock brought the victim to the residence of Contreras.

The three then consumed alcohol and Hancock left the residence to supposedly pick up a friend. At this time, Contreras forced himself on the victim.

Following the rape, the victim left the scene and went to a nearby relative’s home. The victim’s guardian was contacted and took the victim to a local hospital for medical attention.

After an exhaustive search, Contreras was taken into custody on Saturday, June 25, 2016. A short time late Hancock was also arrested. Contreras was charged with Rape-Assault with Intent to Ravish. Hancock was charged with Contributing to Neglect/Delinquency of a Child.

Hancock was given a $40,000 bond for her conspiracy to commit a crime charge, and $10,000 for the contributing to the delinquency of a minor charge.

Contreras' bond for both charges was revoked due to him being an illegal alien, and was deemed a flight risk.
