We should have a winner in the Special Election for Mayor of Hattiesburg by the end of the day, if things go according to Election Commission plans.

The process of looking over close to 400 affidavit ballots will get underway at 10am and we’re told should be over by 4pm if not sooner.

A quick recap of the totals so far:Incumbent Mayor Johnny DuPree has 7,347 votes; challenger Dave Ware has 7,229 votes.

Yesterday, representatives from both campaigns agreed in saying that on average, in other elections, only 20-30% of affidavit ballots are accepted.

We will have live streaming video on MyFOX23.com beginning at 10am.
